SAP Music Halloween Mix 2015

I am really excited about this year's Halloween mix, which is partly why I am posting it so early this year.  I just can't wait to share it.  While I don't really have an "original" track this year, I do have some cool samples and a lot more spooky music.  I have been listening to a lot of scores in the last 6 months or so.  So when I started pulling together the mix back in July I had a whole lot of instrumentals or film score music than usual set aside for the mix.  This sort of forced me to find more dialogue and samples than usual.  So that makes this year's mix a little different and I like the results.

A couple instrumentals I really like from Van Halen and Black Sabbath.  I like them, because these are the kinds of tracks that a listener wouldn't immediately identify with these bands.  While Black Sabbath seems like a no brainer for a Halloween mix, I pulled something from "Born Again" which is a different sort of Sabbath record and not one I listen to very often.  With that said this past summer I gave that record a few listens and I sort of fell in love with it, hence the inclusion here.  "The Dark" sounds like some weird avant-garde experimental track.

The Van Halen pull I think is pretty great because Halloween or scary music is not what comes to mind when I think of Van Halen.  I think of So Cal party band or the Sunset Strip.  However the track I pulled is nothing like that.  I think "Sunday Afternoon In The Park" would fit in perfectly well in a zombie movie for instance.  Give it a listen and see what you think.

All tracks a listed on the artwork.  Enjoy and happy Halloween.

How do I listen to the album? I don't see a link. I'm new to Twitter.

On the blog click on "SAP Music Halloween Mix 2015" which will take you to a mediafire link where you can download a zip file. Use the password "sapmusic2015" to unzip the file and presto you have all the tracks to listen to.

Sorry, I don't have a streaming option. My history with putting stuff on youtube is that it gets muted or taken down.

Just opened the folder, and neither Media Player nor VLC recognizes the files in it. Can you fix this somehow?

For the password, just copy and paste the password that is at the end of the zip file name. It works. I have double verified it myself and it has been working for others.

As car as the files, they are iTunes files so the should be playable in iTunes. I have no problem with VLC recognizing them. I have not tried media player. The reason for using .m4a is that it makes for seamless transition between the files. MP3 encoding puts a second or so of silence at the end of every file, so that if you play the mix back there is a hiccup in the sound between every track, which sort of defeats the intent of the mix.

If you really don't like the .m4a files, just bring them into iTunes and convert them to WAV or Aiff or MP3 files. You can download iTunes for free here. http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

I hope this answers everyone's questions and that you all are able to enjoy the music.

Happy Halloween.

GAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!! I didn't scroll down far enough through the folder to find the *actual* m4a files; I was trying to play the little 70 b things, which were listed right at the top!

All is well.

Hey there...

Any chance you could try a new zip file and upload the files again? My machine is getting funny messages and won't let me upload the file.

I'll try again from a different location, just in case it's my machine...and I'll let you know.

Thanks!

Hi there...

It's me again. I figured out the problem on my side. I was unable to use the native Archive utility on my Mac to expand the zip file. It's the default program on most macs. When I tried using Stuffit Expander, no problems at all.

So, sorry about the false alarm. :-)

With fiendish delight, I am...
