Steve Bolton - Walk On The Wild Side 12" - 1987

This is a lighter funner version of the Lou Reed classic song. Steve gives it an 80's synth pop treatment and the overall effect is that it lightens the mood considerable. I like this version and I don't feel quite as dirty after listening to it like I do when I listen to Lou's version. His version is just a little grittier and dirtier. That's not a bad thing. It's just different.

I don't know anything about Steve Bolton other than I have this record. I see it for sale on various websites and auctions for 10-15 bucks. If you like it enough, go buy it. Otherwise just enjoy what I'm offering up today in digital form.

Enjoy!

Hey Johnathan. Came across your name/site cause I was looking for an obscure cover of "Walk On The Wild Side" done by Steve Bolton. Will get into that more, in a second, but , man, reading more about you on Facebook and Wiki,I feel we are brothers from different mothers. I have always believed, very strongly, that everything happens for a reason. And the Universe brought us together to share some common threads, man. As I sit and write this, I have already lived a VERY full 70+ years of life and enjoyed, for the most part, the ride. But I felt connected enough that I had to drop you a line. I am now happily retired after spending 45+ years in kitchens with a brief 5 year Hiatus, some of the fruits and unexpected inheritances, allowing me to get out of the kitchen and fulfill a life-long dream of going into the Music business professionally Full Time. (Everything happens for a reason, brother.) I was working management with a Private School that trained students for working in the Music Business, predominantly an Audi Production College but also an Independent Record Label, Recording Studio, Publishing company, etc. (Everything happens for a reason). I became aware of Steve Bolton through other contacts when I was a DJ at a club (being a "professional" in the Music Business in those days didn't necessarily pay all of the bills......Got It !?!?!) Steve was going into the studio and needed some background singers. Well, here I had a hungry bunch of students looking for experience and exposure, plus I had been recently been introduced to 3 beautiful and talented young black females from Our Jane/Finch ghetto who were looking for studio time, experience and exposure and I put the parties together. (Everything happens ...Dig ?!?!) After the track was released, I had 6 copies of the vinyl, 2 copies and a third to replace the worn out first, that I jammed to death at the Club I was working, which used to be a total Redneck Biker joint, prior to my arrival, which I later turned into Dress slacks and satin for all the guys and girls. Those WERE the days. Anyway, back in those days, I had 18,000 pieces of vinyl. They outlasted more than a few relationships, but s*#@t happens and I finally conceded and sold, not only, 17,900 pieces of vinyl, but also my BELOVED 2 Technics Rosewood 1500 tables. In the remaining 100 pieces of vinyl, which hold more than the weight of my soul, and which my current wife is WELL aware that they WILL go with me to my grave, I do NOT have a copy of Steve's "Walk On The Wild Side". From my Mother to your Mother, if there is any way that you can cut me a digital and get it to me, I have been waiting years to "play" with the Vocal and Instrumental interspersed with the ghost and soul of Lou Reed to do them ALL justice. In the meantime, continued success, my man. You sound like a force to be reckoned with and your head's still on straight. More power you, brother. If you want to reach out or continue a chat - peter_silveira55@hotmail.com. Stay loose, Strong, Safe, Well and, above all, Happy.

You have it on Motown label. Wasn't aware it was released as such. I only had some original white label promos.
