Jerry Smith - Driving Home/Louisiana Blues 7"

I can't really find much on who Jerry Smith was. He's in Allmusic.com, but there is nothing written about him. I've done some searching on the internet and basically all I get are people selling Jerry Smith records. What I can gather is that he did release a few albums. He was credited as Jerry Smith and his Pianos. That is probably a better description of what your in for when you listen to these two cuts.

Everyone lists Jerry under country, and I guess I can hear why, but to be honest I would just put him under easy listening. The songs here are both instrumental and have piano flying everywhere. "Driving Home" was probably some country song, that I don't know about, but here it's just a kind of happy go lucky song. "Louisiana Blues" is kind of bluesy, but again it is more blues-lite. There is something about the Jerry's piano playing that is a little happy here, which is the opposite of blues. There's a guitar that kicks in definitely playing the blues, but then that piano comes back to sort of lighten everything up again. Maybe I'm way off base here and crazy. You be the judge.

Enjoy!
